The Basic Defender is a loose fitting, disposable mask that may be effective in blocking splashes and large particle droplets, but not designed to filter our very small particles in the air. 

The Premium Defender is designed to achieve a very close facial fit, and is more efficient at filtration.

The Basic Defender is a 3-ply (three layers) mask.
